Research and Development
Bona dedicates more resources, both in facilities and expert personnel, to the research and development of wood finishes and cleaners than any other company in the world. We develop and manufacture the proprietary polymers and ingredients used in all our products. As creators of these technologies, we are in the unique position of maintaining the highest level of quality while bringing exciting innovations to the industry.
Each raw material batch undergoes a series of tests to determine if it meets stringent specification prior to use in producing final products. Inbound raw material and preproduction verification, in-line checks, and final package inspection all have strict quality criteria that must be met prior to a product launch. Our rigorous measures ensure that our products are consistent and perform at the highest level to protect your hardwood floors.
GREENGUARD Certification
The Bona System is the first and only GREENGUARD certified system in industry. From effective dust containment and low-VOC, high performance waterborne finishes, to non-toxic floor care products and systems, the Bona system offers the cleanest and healthiest hardwood floor finishing system available.
The GREENGUARD Environmental Institute is an industry-independent, non-profit organization that establishes standards and testing for indoor products. Their goal is to improve public health by helping manufacturers build safer products. These products will not pollute the air with harmful levels of dangerous chemicals or particulates.
Bona Hardwood and Stone, Tile & Laminate Cleaners and systems have also passed the more stringent GREENGUARD Children and Schools Program for indoor air quality criteria.
ISO 14001 and ISO 9001:2000 Certification
In 2001, Bona’s main facility in Malmö, Sweden, became ISO 14001 certified and Bona Fjugesta, the sanding machine plant in Sweden, became ISO 9001:2000 certified. ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the world’s largest developer of standards, contributing to making the development, manufacturing and supply of products and services more efficient, safer, and cleaner and also serves to safeguard consumers and users in general of products and services. More specifically, ISO 14001 gives requirements for an environmental management system to enable an organization to develop a policy and objective, taking into account legislative requirements and information about significant environmental impacts. ISO 9001:2000 specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization needs to provide products that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements and aims to enhance customer satisfaction.
